Jennifer Tipton Is A Genius
How great is it that Jennifer Tipton has won one of those fabulous MacArthur Foundation “genius” Awards! What designer couldn’t find a great use for $500,000 over five years with no strings attached?
Calling in from Paris where she is working on a project with the Paris Opera Ballet, Tipton commented: “I’m am the first theatre designer to be so honored and I feel quite privileged.” Her next projects include lighting a Calder exhibit at The Whitney and La Traviata at the Scottish National Opera, and her work will be seen in BAM’s Next Wave Festival this fall with her lighting for The Builder’s Association new piece, Continuous City, November 18-22.
