Vectorworks 2008
Just a quick note today….
A while back I mentioned that Nemetschek decided to start offering free educational versions of Vectorworks to students and faculty in the industry. It was around the time they had just released VW 2008, but they were only offering VW 12.5, including renderworks, as a free version. I figured that as each new version was released the older version would then become the new free copy. Well I was wrong with that guess, which is a good thing. I just filled out all of the information required to get a copy of VW 2008, so it should be here in a few weeks. So if you’re looking for VW2008 or VW 12.5 both with renderworks included you can get it here: Click

Only issue with the 2008 student edition is the annoying watermark. You have to plan in your layout a way to trim it out, but anything is better than a dongle!!!
Oh, and please write more when your show opens!

Hi can you point me in the right direction to find a tutor for VectorWorks? I live in Los Angeles and really need to start at the beginning. I build concrete homes - EcoShells - in different parts of the world, typically to replace communities that have been hit by disasters. I am hoping to learn how to use VW so that I can improve the design of EcoShells and also Monolithic Domes that we build here in the States. Can anyone help? Thanks - Dan

Dan,
If you are looking for a tutor, short of possibly enrolling in an individual class at a community college or local college, Nemetschek often offers full day classes from basic to advanced VW users all around the US at various times. I would check their website for more information. There are also some tutorial CDs from both Nemetschek and outside companies that could help you, but I’ve never really looked into them myself.
