Greetings From Guangzhou!
While most of the industry Who’s Whos are at USITT this week here I am halfway across the globe from the Live Design offices visiting the new facilities of PR Lighting in the rapidly-growing city of Guangzhou, China. For those of you who don’t know, PR Lighting has been around for over 20 years and was one of the first lighting manufacturers to open up shop in China. They employ about 500 people and are distrubed in over 50 countries worldwide with OmniSistem as their exclusive US distributor.
About 500 people are here in southeast China to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Home base for the event has been the nearby White Palace Hotel, with its own theatre (seen below) and an impressive array of lights both inside and out. Tomorrow is a big day for facilities tours and the chance to hear some of the driving forces behind this innovative company speak, so stay tuned for more Live Blogs from China.
